Divorce Residency Requirements in South Carolina
Before you can file for divorce in South Carolina, you have to meet the state's residency requirement. If both spouses are South Carolina residents, the plaintiff must have lived in the state for at least 3 months before filing. If only one spouse is a resident, that spouse must have lived in South Carolina for at least 1 year.
